Elizabethton Twins third baseman Danny Valencia and closer Danny Hernandez were named to this prestigious team.

The 2006 Appalachian League All-Star team was announced today and Danny Hernandez and Danny Valencia from Elizabethton were named to this prestigious team. The two all-stars have played a key role in the success of the first place Elizabethton Twins. The Appalachian League All-Star team was selected by local news media and league managers.

Hernandez was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Minnesota Twins in 2003. He spent last season in the Gulf Coast League. This season Hernandez leads the league in saves with sixteen on the season and has an era of 2.96 in 24.1 innings pitched. Hernandez received All-Star honors as the relief pitcher.

Danny Valencia was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 19th round of the 2006 June amateur draft. Valencia is currently hitting .318 with six homeruns and 24 RBI. Valencia also has a slugging percentage of .503 which is fifth in the Appalachian League.
