Isotopes Take Series Finale, Earn Split

NEED TO KNOW: The Albuquerque Isotopes (11-13) took a Sunday afternoon matinee from the Salt Lake Bees (9-14) 5-4 to split the four-game series at Isotopes Park. Right-hander Chad Bettis turned in six impressive innings, allowing just one earned run.

DECIDING MOMENT: Neither team could gain momentum in Sunday afternoon's game until the late innings. Albuquerque scored a pair of runs in the first after two doubles from Tim Smalling and Matt McBride, but Salt Lake plated two of their own in the third to tie the game. The Isotopes regained the advantage in the fourth after Dustin Garneau came around to score following a one-out single. After the Bees seemed to take control with a two-run seventh inning, the Topes answered with two of their own to put the nail in the coffin. Kyle Parker singled to leadoff the inning and scored on a Joey Wong two-out RBI triple. Wong would later score on a Brandon Barnes single to give the Isotopes the lead for good.

WILIN AND DEALIN': First baseman Wilin Rosario seems to have settled into the Land of Enchantment. After a 2-for-4 afternoon, Rosario is now 6-for-9 with two runs scored and three RBI in his last two games.

GARNEAU? HOW ABOUT GAR-YES?: Catcher Dustin Garneau continues his solid work of late. He turned in a 3-for-4 day with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Garneau is now 6-for-9 on the homestand with two runs scored, a double, a home run and three RBI. He has hits in three straight games and in five of his last six contests overall.

YOU BETTIS BELIEVE IT: Right-hander Chad Bettis turned in yet another solid start on Sunday. He lasted six innings, allowing just one earned run. Overall he struck out five batters and walked three. It is his second quality start in his last three outings and the third time this season Bettis has allowed two earned runs or fewer in a start.

ON DECK: The Isotopes will welcome the Las Vegas 51s to Isotopes Park for a four-game series beginning Monday night. Left-hander John Lannan (0-0, 3.21) is scheduled to take the hill for Albuquerque, while Las Vegas will send righty Tyler Pill (0-0, 9.00) to the mound.
