Whataburger Field Flags at Half-Mast

CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi Hooks general manager Michael Wood announced Monday morning that Whataburger Field flags will fly at half-mast in the wake of police Chief Floyd Simpson's tragic death Sunday afternoon.

The ball club also plans to remember Chief Simpson with a moment of silence Monday evening before the team plays Frisco at 7:05.

Hooks president Ken Schrom issued this statement:

"God mightily blessed our city through Chief Simpson. He was a man of exemplary character who loved this community and its citizens. Chief Simpson fully understood servant leadership, and his legacy will inspire us now and in the future. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, children, and the men and women of the Corpus Christi Police Department."
