Timely Hitting, Quality Start Helps Nuts to Fourth Straight

May 5, 2015

Modesto, CA. - The middle of the Modesto Nuts' order backed a quality start by Harrison Musgrave against the Bakersfield Blaze on Monday night at John Thurman Field.

The lefty starter continued the great stretch of Nuts' (12-13) starters by working 6.2 innings to help the Nuts to their fourth straight win, the longest winning streak of the year for Modesto. Musgrave gave up a solo home run in the first and that was it. The lefty retired eight in a row at one point, allowed just two hits after the home run and struck out five.

Carlos Estevez (S, 3/3) used a double play to get around a ninth-inning leadoff single to secure the four-game, series-opening victory.

The Nuts' cleanup hitter, Correlle Prime recorded his first of two RBI against Blaze (13-12) starter Carlos Misell (L, 1-1) with a RBI double in the first. He followed with a RBI fielder's choice in the third. Ryan McMahon, batting third in the lineup, had two doubles and a RBI fielder's choice to drive in his two runs. Misell went five innings and gave up eight hits while striking out five.

The second of four games against the Blaze will be on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Grahamm Wiest will toss for the Nuts. Edwin Diaz will throw for the Blaze.
