South Bend Cubs to Wait Tables for Charity

Team will raise money for pediatric health care services
May 6, 2015

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - On Tuesday, May 12, members of the South Bend Cubs will wait tables at two locations of a local restaurant to raise money for pediatric health care services.

At an event known as Tip-A-Cub, the team will work the dining room at two local Applebee's restaurants, gathering monetary tips as they take orders and deliver food to patrons. It's the fourth year Applebee's has sponsored this month-long effort to raise funds to support Shine: The Campaign for Memorial Children's Hospital.

"Our guys are really looking forward to this night," said Joe Hart, President of the South Bend Cubs. "Some are a little nervous about waiting tables, but they know it's all in good fun and absolutely for a good cause. Applebee's is a great community partner and we're happy to help out any way we can."

"We look forward to teaming with the South Bend Cubs to support Shine and the Memorial Children's Hospital," said Ron Long, Executive VP and COO of Applebee's franchise, Apple Sauce Inc. "This will be our fourth year of supporting this great cause and with the cooperation and support of great partners like the South Bend Cubs and the tremendous generosity of our guests, we have raised over $25,000 to help fund Memorial Children's Hospital's efforts."

The South Bend Cubs will be on hand from 6-8 p.m. at the Granger location (6615 N Main St) as well as the South Bend location (1150 E Ireland Road, in Erskine Village).

All donations will help Memorial Children's Hospital build a new home for pediatric health care services for children from the region.

The public is invited to the Tip-A-Cub event. For more information, contact Matt Steele at the Applebee's Granger location by calling (574) 273-0003.
