South Bend Cubs Performance Center hosts grand opening Friday night

Event includes free food, batting cage tokens.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The grand opening of the South Bend Cubs Performance Center is scheduled for Friday, May 8 from 5-8 p.m. From the time of the team's season opener on April 9, the Performance Center has been open to the public during every home game. Now, the facility will operate at its full-time, daily schedule.

To mark the grand opening, the South Bend Cubs Performance Center will host several events on Friday:

  • Everyone entering the facility will receive 2 free tokens to try out the batting cages
  • Several of the baseball and softball instructors will be onsite to meet and answer questions-including former South Bend Silver Hawks manager and current Performance Center Director of Training & Instruction Mark Haley
  • Complimentary food from 5-7 p.m. (hot dogs, chips, cracker jacks, soft drinks)
  • Opportunity to sign up for memberships
  • Two sets of South Bend Cubs tickets will be given away every hour

"This facility embodies the entire vibe and energy of Four Winds Field," said Mark Haley, Director of Training & Instruction of the Performance Center. "We intentionally created a building where athletes of any ability can train with the best instructors on the best equipment in the best environment. Our goal is to be the premier destination for world-class baseball and softball training."
