Red Wings fly past the Bats in the first game of the series, 3-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky- The Louisville Bats (11-17) fell short in the first game of the series at Louisville Slugger Field to the Rochester Red Wings (16-11) with a score of 3-0 Friday night. 

The Red Wings started out strong in the first with a 3-0 lead over the Bats. A line drive to center by second baseman James Beresford followed by a walk from designated hitter Josmil Pinto. Without hesitation left fielder Danny Ortiz slammed a homer to right field bringing in all three Red Wings. 

Leading off on the mound for Louisville was right-handed pitcher Raisel Iglesias (1-2). Pitching five innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs, three walks, five strikeouts and one home run. He was relieved in the sixth by right-handed pitcher Donavan Hand.

Rochesters left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone (3-1) took the win for the Red Wings. In six innings Milone allowed five hits, two walks and eight strikeouts. Mark Hamburger finished off the win relieving Milone in the bottom of the seventh. 

The Bats face the Red Wings again tomorrow in the second game of the series at Slugger Field at 7:05pm. Projected to take the mound for Louisville tomorrow is left-handed pitcher David Holmberg (0-3) and for Rochester left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone (2-1).
