May 11, 2015

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - More than merely a baseball venue, Four Winds Field will serve as an entertainment hotspot and host another summer concert, as the Under the Sun Tour, featuring Sugar Ray, Better Than Ezra, Uncle Kracker and Eve 6, will make its way to South Bend on Friday, July 31, the South Bend Cubs announced Monday.

The nationally traveling tour will descend on the diamond at Four Winds Field, making the home of the South Bend Cubs one of more than 30 stops for the renowned artists throughout the summer. The South Bend Cubs are pleased to partner with Corona, WSBT 22 and Sunny 101.5 for the Friday-night concert.

"We're thrilled to bring another great event for our community to Four Winds Field," South Bend Cubs President Joe Hart said. "We've had country concerts here before, and now we're excited to appeal to another fan base by bringing in an alternative rock show. I know that I'm excited to watch some of the artists I grew up listening to perform live."

Sugar Ray gained notoriety in the late 1990s with "Fly" and churned out other hits such as "Every Morning," "Someday" and "When It's Over."

Better than Ezra released the nationally distributed album "Deluxe" in 1993, and their 1995 hit "Good" reached No. 1. "Deluxe" is widely viewed as a classic of the alternative era.

Uncle Kracker has unleashed a slew of top-10 hits, including the No. 1 smash, "Follow Me" in 2001. In 2003, "Drift Away," made history by topping Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart for 28 weeks.

Eve 6 attained platinum success with hits like the chart-topper, "Inside Out."

"We've always wanted Four Winds Field to be more than just a great baseball venue," Hart said. "Based on the success of our previous concerts, we couldn't be more excited to bring more entertainment to downtown South Bend."

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. ET, and the music will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets go on sale May 18 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased by visiting the South Bend Cubs Box Office at Four Winds Field, logging on to SouthBendCubs.com or calling 574-235-9988.
