NSAA Class A Baseball Championship Tournament Kicks Off Saturday

Five-day event at Werner Park begins with four games on May 16 starting at 10 a.m.

UPDATE (5/21):  Omaha Westside defeated Millard South 1-0 ast Werner Park to become 2015 Nebraska Class A State Champions.

UPDATE (5/20) EVENING - FINAL:  Lincoln SW defeated Millard West to advance to the Championship Games tomorrow morning. Lincoln SW will face Millard South at 10am at Werner Park with the gates oepning at 9am. Omaha Westside will square off with the winner to decide the 2015 Class A Nebraska State HS Baseball Championship. The second game will start at 12:15pm at the earliest.

UPDATE (5/20) EVENING:  Millard South defeated Omaha Westside 3-2 at Werner Park. Lincoln SW will play Millard West at 7pm. Millard South will play the winner of tonight's game tomorrow at 10am. Omaha Westside will square off with the winner of the 10am game to decide the 2015 Class A Nebraska State HS Baseball Championship.

UPDATE (5/20) MORNING:  The Omaha Westside Warriors (#1) square off with the Millard South Patriots (#3) today at 4pm a Werner Park. The Millard West Wildcats (#6) take on the Lincoln SW Silver Hawks (#2) at 7pm tonight.

UPDATE (5/19):  The Omaha Westside Warriors (#1) square off with the Millard North Mustangs (#4) tonight at 7pm a Werner Park. The Winner is one game away from the NSAA Class A State Champion to be played on on Wednesday at 4pm at Werner Park between the winner of tonight's matchup and either the winner of Grand Island vs. Millard South OR Millard West vs. Millard North in contests to be decided today at Fricke Field at 4pm and 7pm respectively.

After tonight's 7pm tilt, Werner Park will host a pair of games tomorrow at 4pm and 7pm and the Class A State Championship Game on Thursday May 21 at 10am, with a 15th and deciding game to follow if neccessary. 

UPDATE (5/18):  Due to the Suspended Game on Saturday May 16, Lincoln Southwest and Lincoln Southeast will resume play today at 2pm with Lincoln Southwest leading Lincoln Southeast 4-0 with no outs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Werner Park gates will open at 1:30pm. Those with Session #1 tickets from Saturday (All Saturday Tickets are Session #1) will receive free admission to the conclusion of the Suspended game or 3pm whichever comes first.

Fans, Friends, and Family wishing  to attend the regularly scheduled Session beginning at 4pm Session will need a seperate ticket for admission.

The full schedule for the second day of the Class A Baseball Championship Tournament at Werner Park is as follows:

  • 1:30 p.m. - Gates Open
  • 2:00 p.m. - Conclusion of #2 Lincoln Southwest vs. #7 Lincoln Southeast with Lincoln Southwest Leading 4-0 with no outs in the bottom of the 5th Inning
  • 4:00 p.m. - #1 Westside vs. #3 Millard North
  • 7:00 p.m. - #3 Millard South vs. (Winner of #2 Lincoln Southwest vs. #7 Lincoln Southeast)

 

OMAHA, Neb. - After hosting the tournament in 2013, the NSAA Class A Baseball Championship Tournament returns to Werner Park this year on May 16-21 with the seeding and matchups officially released today. All eight qualifying teams take the field Saturday, May 16 with a four-game slate on the first of the five-day event.

The full schedule for the first day of the Class A Baseball Championship Tournament is as follows:

  • 10:00 a.m. - #1 Westside (29-5) vs. #8 Grand Island (20-7)
  • 1:00 p.m. - #4 Millard North (23-9) vs. #5 Papillion-La Vista (22-7)
  • 4:00 p.m. - #3 Millard South (25-7) vs. #6 Millard West (20-10)
  • 7:00 p.m. - #2 Lincoln Southwest (23-7) vs. #7 Lincoln Southeast (19-8)

Tickets for the NSAA Class A High School Baseball Championship Tournament are general admission, and get fans in to every game of the day purchased, priced at $7.00 and $5.00 for children. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (402) 738-5100 or in person at the Werner Park Ticket Office. Children tickets at the discounted $5.00 price must be purchased in person at Werner Park, in advance or on any day of the tournament.

The NSAA Class A Baseball Championship Tournament is double elimination format, with all Winner's Bracket to be played at Werner Park. The first two rounds of the Loser's Bracket will be played at Fricke Field in Papillion before returning to Werner Park. Winners from each of the four matchups on May 16 advance to the second round at Werner Park on Monday, May 18, with the winners of the 1-8 and 4-5 matchups to play at 4:00 p.m. and the winners of the 2-7 and 3-6 matchups to play at 7:00 p.m.

The Class A Tournament Championship Game will be played Thursday, May 21 at 10:00 a.m., with the second Championship Game the same day if necessary.
