Venable to Rehab in SA

The Padres announced this afternoon that former Mission, Will Venable, has been assigned to San Antonio tonight to rehab is lower back strain suffered on July 1st.

Venable, who was a member of the 2007 Texas League Champion Missions, went on the DL on July 2nd. Will began his rehab in Single-A Lake Elsinore on July 14th and played in 5 games with the Storm, where he went 1-14, while playing Right Field and DH.

Venable has helped lead the Padres to the best record in the National League with 18 extra base hits, including 8 HR, and 32 RBI prior to his injury.

Max Venable, Will's father, is the Missions Hitting Coach and will mark the first time in Missions known history that a father son combo will be in uniform for the same game. Max and Will spent a season together in Single-A Fort Wayne in 2006.

Will was drafted out of Princeton University in the 7th round of the 2005 draft. He was a two-sport athlete at Princeton (Baseball and Basketball).
