TinCaps' Schackow Recognized as Outstanding IPFW Alum

Vice President of Finance Makes List of 50 Outstanding Alumni
May 13, 2015

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - TinCaps Vice President of Finance, Brian Schackow, has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Outstanding Alumni of the Doermer School of Business at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).

The list, in honor of IPFW's 50th anniversary celebration, consists of 50 alumni the Doermer School of Business is recognizing for their outstanding career achievements.

"It's a great honor to be included with so many other successful DSB alums," Schackow said. "The accounting department has an outstanding group of professors who provided me with a great foundation to use with my day-to-day responsibilities, as well as sitting for the CPA exam."

Schackow, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), earned a PBA certificate in accounting at IPFW in 2014.

"We're extremely proud of Brian," TinCaps President Mike Nutter said. "He's an amazing asset for our organization and Fort Wayne."

A Fort Wayne native who graduated from Snider High School and then Ball State University in 1999 with a double major in sports administration and marketing, Shackow has been with the TinCaps organization since 2003 (when they were still the Wizards). Schackow is responsible for all aspects of the team's financials, as well as assisting with the financials of Hardball Capital's two other teams, the Savannah Sand Gnats and Chattanooga Lookouts.

Away from Parkview Field, Schackow, who's a recreational triathlete and marathoner, volunteers for Fort4Fitness and Fort Wayne Trails. He has been married to LeAnn since 2003. They have three children: Lorenn, Daniel, and Owen.

Schackow's appearance on IPFW's list of 50 Outstanding Alumni comes after he was named to Fort Wayne Business Weekly's "40 Under 40" in 2011.
