Elon University Recognizes Royals Partnership
BURLINGTON, NC-The Burlington Royals have been named "Outstanding Community Partner" by the Sport and Event Management Department at Elon University. The Outstanding Community Partner Award was created by Dr. Hal Walker, Chair, Sport and Event Management in an effort to recognize professional organizations who provide extracurricular experiences for students in the Sport and Event Management Department at Elon University.
"Obviously, the Royals have been a long standing partner and with you (Keur,) being there, it was an easy choice for this year's recognition," said Dr. Walker. "We certainly have a variety of things going on campus. However, with the Royals being so close, it is a terrific way to expose students to the business of baseball, as well as the new opportunities in our recently added sport sales course. I think our program has always been centered around experiential opportunities. Having the Royals so close really helps us offer local opportunities that can only benefit our majors upon graduation."
General Manager and Elon University alum, Ryan Keur, said, "We're proud to work with Elon on a professional level. We're always excited to provide internships, speak to classes, and work on projects with the Sport and Event Management Department. We're honored to know that Dr. Walker and the entire Department appreciate us as well."
The Burlington Royals are the Appalachian League Affiliate of the American League Champion Kansas City Royals. The Burlington Royals begin playing on June 21st this season in an Exhibition Game against the Kernersville Bulldogs.
