Prime and Thomas Help Power Nuts to 3-1 Win

May 17, 2015

Stockton, CA. - Extra-base power backed Antonio Senzatela's strong start in the Modesto Nuts' 3-1 win against the Stockton Ports on Sunday afternoon at Banner Island Ballpark.

Senzatela (W, 2-2) worked seven full innings for the third time in four May starts. The righty allowed just one run on a sac fly in the fourth while striking out four and walking one. Senzatela retired the first nine he faced but had to strand six baserunners in his final four innings of work.

The Nuts (20-17) first got on the board in the second when Correlle Prime smacked his team-leading fifth home run of the year. After the Ports (16-21) tied it in the fourth, Dillon Thomas gave the Nuts the lead for good.

Sean Doolittle (L, 0-1) made his second big league rehab appearance for the Ports. The All-Star lefty allowed singles to Ryan McMahon and Rosell Herrera before Thomas clubbed the go-ahead two-run double.

Trent Danel (S, 1) worked around two baserunners in the ninth with a strikeout in his first save opportunity of the year.

The Nuts will go for their fifth consecutive series victory on Monday night. The 7:10 first pitch will pit Nuts' starter Konner Wade against Ports' righty Dylan Covey.
