Dorn, Mustangs down Raptors

Daniel Dorn homered twice and drove in four runs as visiting Billings crushed Ogden, 12-4, on Monday.

Dorn went 3-for-4 and scored four runs. The 22-year-old left fielder smacked an RBI double in the second inning, blasted a solo homer in the fourth and capped the Mustangs' four-run ninth with a two-run homer, his sixth.

Denis Phipps went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs and Logan Parker had two hits, including his eighth homer, and drove in two runs for Billings (20-9), which pounded out 15 hits. Justin Turner added two hits, two RBIs and two runs.

Starter Anthony Gressick (5-2) allowed three runs on five hits, struck out one and walked one over five innings for the Mustangs.

Billings leads the Pioneer League's North Division by three games over Missoula.

Ogden starter Javy Guerra (1-3) lasted just 2 2/3 innings, surrendering four runs on seven hits and three walks, while striking out two.

Rick Taloa smacked a two-run homer and Carlos Santana added a solo homer for the Raptors (15-13), who had their four-game winning streak halted.

Raptors designated hitter Matt Berezay blasted a solo homer in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.

Despite the loss, Ogden remained a game behind first place Orem in the Pioneer League's South Division. --Chip Haunss/MLB.com
