Sox Snap Losing-Streak, Crush Bees 12-1

July 23, 2010
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox snapped their four-game losing-streak by crushing the Salt Lake Bees by the score of 12-1 on Friday night in Salt Lake City. The win also kicks off the Sox's longest road trip of the season as they have embarked on a three-city, 12-game trip to Salt Lake, Sacramento and Fresno.

The offensive outburst made a winner of Esmil Rogers (2-3) who turned in one of his best outings of the season. He gave up just one unearned run on four hits and one walk over five innings of work while striking out eight. The loss went to Matt Shoemaker (0-1) who was making his Triple-A debut. He was roughed up for six runs over 3.1 innings.

At the plate, the Sky Sox were hitting on all cylinders. The team totaled 16 hits as every single batter recorded at least one hit and six players had multi-hit games.

Cole Garner went 2-for-3 with two walks and four runs scored while Mike Paulk and Travis Metcalf each drove in three. Paulk hit his third homer of the season and Metcalf doubled and tripled.

Game two of the four-game series is set for tomorrow night at 7:05 PM. The Sox will send out RH Alan Johnson (8-6, 5.22) to face RH Fernando Rodriguez (1-4, 6.19).
