Mets' Mookie Wilson here Aug. 29

Former New York Mets star Mookie Wilson will sign autographs on Sunday afternoon, August 29 when the Red Wings host Pawtucket. Wilson's appearance is made possible by Road Runner Mobile from Time Warner Cable.

As part of Wilson's appearance, fans can register to win one of two iPads, a Red Wings replica home jersey, or Premium tickets and Diamond Dollars for our final weekend of home games Sept. 3-6. Fans can register in one of two ways, no purchase necessary, on both Saturday and Sunday:

* at the Time Warner Cable event trailer parked outside Frontier Field, Sat. Aug. 28 between 5-8 p.m.and Sun. Aug. 29 between 11:30 a.m.- 2 p.m.
* inside the ballpark at the Time Warner Cable/Road Runner Mobile tent in the breezeway behind home plate.

Known for his speed on the basepaths, Wilson is second all-time on the Mets in both stolen bases (281) and triples (62); he held the career records until current Met Jose Reyes broke both marks during the 2008 season.

Wilson played for the Mets from 1980-89, and finished his big league career with Toronto from 1989 to 1991. Wilson's ground ball through the legs of Boston first baseman Bill Buckner was the turning point of the Mets' 1986 World Series win over the Red Sox. In February 2010 Wilson was named minor league outfield and baserunning coordinator for the Mets.

In 1996, Wilson was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame. He will sign autographs on August 29 from 12 noon until 12:50 p.m., and from 1:15 p.m. - 2 p.m.
