Josh Hamilton Continues Rehab at Dell Diamond
ROUND ROCK, Texas - Texas Rangers outfielder and 2010 American League MVP Josh Hamilton will return to the Round Rock Express on Thursday, May 21 to continue his major league rehabilitation. The Express receive Hamilton from Double-A Frisco after the former MVP spent four games with the RoughRiders.
Hamilton batted .563 (9-16) with two doubles, one home run, four RBIs, one walk and one strikeout while with Frisco. He played both center field and designated hitter.
Hamilton started his rehab assignment with the Express on May 10 in Nashville. In six games, he averaged .211 (4-19) and recorded two doubles, two RBIs and one walk with six strikeouts. He saw action in left field, center field and as designated hitter. He is continuing his rehab from right shoulder surgery on February 4.
The 2010 AL MVP was acquired by the Texas Rangers in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for a player to be named later or cash considerations on April 27. Hamilton spent two seasons in Los Angeles after having been a member of the Texas Rangers from 2008-2012. He was named the 2010 AL MVP after a season that saw him produce a .359 batting average, 32 home runs, 100 RBIs, 95 runs, 40 doubles and 43 walks in 133 games with the Rangers. He recorded career-highs in runs (103) and home runs (43) in 2012 while posting 128 RBIs.
Hamilton joins the Express as they open an eight-game homestand starting with Albuquerque on Thursday, May 21. After four games with the Isotopes, the E-Train welcomes the El Paso Chihuahuas to Dell Diamond for four games, May 25-28.
