I's boil Crawdads in doubleheader

Adams and Almonte shutout Hickory in both games

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 21, 2015)- The Kannapolis Intimidators beat the Hickory Crawdads, 2-0, in both games of the doubleheader Thursday night at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. It is the first time the Intimidators shut out an opponent in back-to-back games since July of 2013.

In game one, Spencer Adams (1-3) worked 5.0 innings, allowing no runs, five hits, while walking one and striking out four.

Kannapolis (18-22) took the first lead of the game in the home half of the fourth inning. Eddy Alvarez doubled and advanced to third on a Sacrifice fly. The next at-bat Louie Lechich grounded out to second to score Alvarez and give Kannapolis the 1-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, Kannapolis added an Insurance run to make it 2-0. Alvarez singled and scored from first on a double by Christian Stringer.

Matt Cooper earned the save (2), by working 2.0 innings, allowing no runs, no hits while striking out three.

Alvarez went 3-for-3, with a double, two singles, and two runs scored.

Reed Garrett took the loss (3-3), working 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while walking two and striking out three.

In game two, Yency Almonte worked 6.0 scoreless innings to lead the Intimidators to the win. Louie Lechich's 2-RBI single was all the offense Kannapolis needed to hold off Hickory.

Almonte earned the win (2-2) by working 6.0 innings, allowing no runs, three hits while walking one and striking out four.

The Intimidators broke a scoreless tie in the home half of the fifth inning when Louie Lechich grounded a single up the middle to score Michael Danner and Christian Stringer, giving Kannapolis a 2-0 lead.

Cody Buckel worked 3.0 innings allowing no runs, two hits while walking two and striking out three. Adam Parks took the loss (0-2) by working 3.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits while walking one and striking out two.

Jefferson Olacio earned the save (1) by going 1.0 innings, allowing no runs, one hit while striking out two.
