July 24, 2010
San Bernardino, Calif.- The Los Angeles Dodgers have just called up former Inland Empire 66ers relief pitcher Kenley Jansen on Friday. Only a season removed from becoming a pitcher, Jansen made his major league debut Saturday afternoon at Dodger Stadium.

In his first major league appearance, the 6-foot-6 right-hander, went one inning against the New York Mets. He retired the side in order, striking out the first two batters he faced, one of them being the Mets' All-Star third baseman David Wright.

In his second appearance on Sunday, Jansen was called in to close the ninth in a 1-0 game against the Mets. He retired the side once again, striking out the final two batters to earn his first career major league save.

Jansen, who started last season as a catcher, was 1-1 with a 1.50 earned-run average in 11 appearances for Inland Empire this season.
