Former Frog Friday: Ketel Marte
The AquaSox 30 Days of Opening Day celebration continues with Former Frog Friday, a spin on our previous Where Are They Wednesday feature. This week we're catching up with 2012 AquaSox player Ketel Marte.

Take one glance at the Pacific Coast League standings and you will notice former frog Ketel Marte in the top three of all six listed categories. The 21-year-old shortstop has been dominant in his 40 games with the Tacoma Rainiers this season, batting .346 with 24 runs scored, 19 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.
The Dominican born infielder was invited to his first major league spring training in 2015, where he got to meet and learn from his favorite player, Robinson Cano.
His addition to the Mariners' 40-man roster in November followed a breakout 2014 season. After being promoted to Tacoma from the Jackson Generals, he finished the season hitting .304 with a .746 OPS and generated a lot of big league buzz.
AquaSox fans know Marte's work ethic and impressive speed well. In 2012 he played 65 games with the AquaSox at both shortstop and second base. A switch-hitter known for his agility and quickness, he received the Heart & Soul award from the Mariners Minor League Awards last year.
Marte signed with Seattle on August 13, 2010 as an international free agent and has quickly risen through the farm system, reaching Triple-A Tacoma at just 20-years-old.
Fans can follow his performance in Tacoma- where he is currently on a 5-game hit streak- through the Mariners Minor League Report or tacomarainiers.com.
