Sneed, Rattlers Shutout Cougars

Team Falls to Wisconsin for First Time in 2015
May 22, 2015

GENEVA, Ill.- Cy Sneed made it difficult for the Cougars to score all night as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (12-3) shutout the Kane County Cougars (20-22) 4-0 Friday evening at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

Both Sneed and Touki Toussaint had dueling shutouts through the first six innings. The Cougar right-hander only served up two hits through six frames of scoreless baseball. Toussaint picked up his first quality start in just his second outing of 2015.

Wisconsin's Sneed (2-5) never allowed a Cougar to reach second base in the game as he tied a season high with six strikeouts and set a season high with eight scoreless innings.

Scoring didn't happen until the seventh inning against Cougar reliever Jeferson Mejia (0-2). Greg McCall started Wisconsin off with a leadoff single before scoring on Francisco Castillo's RBI double. Elvis Rubio made it a 2-0 Timber Rattler advantage with a run scoring single.

Two innings later Wisconsin scored off of Mejia again. The Timber Rattlers put runners at second and third to knock out the Cougar pitcher and plated another pair on Jake Gatewood's two-run knock.

The Cougars and Timber Rattlers continue their four-game series on Saturday. Ethan Elias (4-1, 1.53) takes the hill for the Cougars against Wisconsin's Kodi Medeiros (1-2, 5.35). First pitch from Fifth Third Bank Ballpark is at 6:30 p.m.
