Dunn, Ems deny Sox

August 31, 2006
Brooks Dunn struck out eight in six scoreless innings as Eugene blanked Everett, 1-0, in the opener of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Dunn (4-6) gave up four hits -- two of which came in the first inning -- without walking a batter. R.J. Rodriguez retired the side in order in the seventh for his 13th save.

The Emeralds (38-30) got on the board in the first against Everett starter Steven Uhlmansiek. Brian Lauderdale led off with a double and advanced on a groundout before Michael Epping singled him home. Epping went 2-for-4 and was the only Eugene player with more than one hit.

Chao Kuan Wu led Everett (29-39) with a pair of singles.
