Bleier Wins EL Pitcher of the Week

Lefty threw eight shutout innings vs. New Britain

The Eastern League announced today that Harrisburg Senators' starting pitcher Richard Bleier has been named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for May 18th - May 24th. The left-hander is the first Senator to win a player of pitcher of the week award this season.
 
Bleier started Friday night's game against New Britain and earned his third consecutive win by tossing eight shutout innings in Harrisburg's 1-0 victory over the Rock Cats. The Davie, Florida native allowed just two hits while striking out seven and walking just one. In his last three starts, Bleier has thrown 21 innings and has an earned run average of 1.29. 
 
Bleier, who was signed as a minor league free agent on December 29, 2014 by the Washington Nationals, has pitched for both Harrisburg and AAA affiliate, Syracuse. In a combined nine appearances between the two levels (seven starts), Bleier is 4-1 with an ERA of 2.64 in 44.1 innings.
