Edwin Garcia joins Riders from High Desert
FRISCO, TEXAS (May 26, 2015) - The Texas Rangers announced today that Edwin Garcia has been added to the Frisco RoughRiders roster from Advanced-A High Desert. In a corresponding roster move, Guilder Rodriguez was placed on the seven-day disabled list.
Garcia, 24, joined High Desert from the AZL Rangers roster in late April and played 19 games for the Mavericks, hitting .324 with three doubles, 11 RBI and a home run, which he hit on Sunday. The home run was the eighth in eight professional seasons.
This will be Garcia's third stint with the RoughRiders. He first joined Frisco for one game in 2011, going 1 for 4 at the plate. In 2014, he played 30 games for the RoughRiders, hitting .206 with four doubles. He spent the remainder of last season with the Advanced-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans, appearing in 53 games and hitting .263 with nine doubles, 11 RBI and 14 walks.
Rodriguez has played 18 games for the Riders this season, hitting .276 with three doubles and ten RBI.
