Cron Lifts Bees Over Dodgers
SALT LAKE CITY (May 27) - The Salt Lake Bees snapped the Oklahoma City Dodgers' five-game win streak with a 6-2 victory Wednesday night at Smith's Ballpark. The Bees' bats heated up early beginning with Kyle Kubitza's second home run of the season in the bottom of the first. In the second inning, C.J. Cron followed suit by knocking the first pitch he saw deep over the left field wall. The Bees scored an additional run in the second and three more in the fifth before game was halted due to rain. After a 91-minute delay, play was resumed though neither team was able to score after the delay.
Drew Rucinski (1-4) earned his first victory of the season with five innings of strong work for the Bees before being knocked out by the rain delay. The righty gave up two home runs on three total hits to the Dodgers and struck out six batters while walking two. Cron added a triple and two RBIs to his second inning home run in his first night back in Salt Lake City. Jett Bandy and Efren Navarro chipped in a double a piece and Alfredo Marte tallied two singles.
The Bees will see the Dodgers for one last game tomorrow at 12:05 p.m. before heading to Memphis for a four-game series against the Redbirds beginning Friday, May 29. Salt Lake returns to Smith's Ballpark on June 6 for an eight-game set. For more information and for tickets, visit www.slbees.com.
