Former Frog Friday: Jabari Blash

Of the many former frogs finding success on and off the field, Jabari Blash is making a splash that is hard to miss. The 2011 AquaSox player was named Southern League Player of the Week in May and is hitting .338 with a .446 OBP as a member of the Jackson Generals.
After starting the 2015 season in Tacoma, Blash found his rhythm upon arrival in Jackson. He hit his 10th career multi-home run game on May 13th, including a grand slam home run in the 9th inning. He also set a season high in hits and RBI that game. Overall, Blash became only the 7th minor league player, first Mariners player, to record at least 7 RBI in a game in 2015
He was named Northwest League All Star in 2011 as a member of the Everett AquaSox. Known for his strong right-handed bat, he played 57 games before moving on to Clinton, Jackson and eventually Triple A Tacoma.
Blash grew up on the Virgin Islands and admittedly wasn't very interested in baseball as a kid. That is until Darren Canton started the Virgin Island Future Stars, which led Blash to Miami Dade Community College. After being drafted by other teams twice before, the rising star was drafted by and signed with the Seattle Mariners in 2010.
