D-backs select Jarrod Saltalamacchia from Aces
Reno - The Reno Aces (@Aces), in conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks), have announced Jarrod Saltalamacchia's contract has been selected by the D-backs.
Saltalamacchia, 30, is the seventh player to be called up from the Aces this season. In nine games with the Aces, the catcher had 2 home runs and 7 RBI.
Also departing the Aces roster is outfielder Tom Belza (@TomBelza) and Kevin Frandsen. Belza was transferred to Double-A Mobile and Frandsen was released from his minor league contract.
Joining the Aces is outfielder Nick Buss (@chilibuss), catcher Matt Pagnozzi (@MattPagnozzi) and outfielder Todd Glaesmann (@toddglaesmann22).
Buss, 28, is active after starting the season on the disabled list. Buss spent the 2014 season with the Sacramento River Cats and Albuquerque Isotopes. He hit .299 (162-for-542) with 91 runs scored, 68 RBI, 20 doubles, 14 stolen bases, 5 home runs and 5 triples in 136 games.
Pagnozzi, 32, returns to the Aces after a brief stint with the Double-A Mobile BayBears. Pagnozzi is hitting .261 (18-for-69) with 2 home runs and 10 RBI in 25 games between Reno and Mobile.
Glaesmann, 24, will be making his Aces and Triple-A debut. He started the season with the Advanced-A Visalia Rawhide and was promoted to Double-A Mobile after just seven games. He's hitting .253 (23-for-91) with 15 RBI, 14 runs scored and 5 home runs in 31 games between the two stops.
The Aces begin an eight-game homestand tonight against the New Orleans Zephyrs with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
