Chi Chi Gonzalez Receives Call to Arlington

Rangers 2013 1st Round Draft Pick to Make Major League Debut Saturday

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of RHP Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez from Triple-A Round Rock the club announced Saturday afternoon. Gonzalez is scheduled to make his major league debut tonight against the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

Gonzalez's 2015 campaign with Round Rock marked his first stint at the Triple-A level after splitting 2014 with Double-A Frisco and High-A Myrtle Beach. He is 3-5 with a 4.15 ERA (43.1ip/20er) in eight starts for the Express this season.

The Rangers selected Gonzalez in the 1st round (23rd overall) of the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft from Oral Roberts University and officially signed the Florida native on June 10, 2013. He threw 113.1 innings for ORU in 2013 while striking out 126 batters, the third-highest single-season total in Golden Eagle history.

The Express continues its eight-game road trip with game two against the Tacoma Rainiers tonight at 7:05 p.m. CDT. RHP Stolmy Pimentel (0-0, 0.00) takes the hill for Round Rock against Rainiers RHP Forrest Snow (1-4, 3.00). The E-Train fell in game one last night, 5-3.
