Cromer, Biscuits beat Braves
Cromer (4-5) allowed three hits and a walk while striking out four to lower his ERA to 2.58. Jeremy Flanagan gave up a run on two hits over the next two innings, Josh Kranawetter pitched around a single in the eighth, and Jean Machi retired the side in order in the ninth.
The Biscuits (41-29) never trailed after taking a 1-0 lead in the first. Francisco Leandro led off with a double and moved to third base on Reid Brignac's single. John Raburn's sacrifice fly to right field opened the scoring.
Michael Coleman and Brignac hit solo homers and Jeremy Owens and Patrick Breen each collected two hits and an RBI for Montgomery.
Braves starter Francisley Bueno (1-7) remained winless in eight starts since July 4, surrendering two runs -- one earned -- on five hits with eight strikeouts and three walks in six innings.
Mississippi (27-42) scored its run in the sixth when Yunel Escobar reached on a bunt single, stole second and scored on Josh Burrus' single to left. -- Eric Justic/MLB.com
