Verlander scheduled to start for Hens on Saturday
Tigers ace and former Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander is scheduled to make his second rehab start with the Mud Hens on Saturday at Fifth Third Field. Verlander took the hill for Toledo in Indianapolis last Sunday, allowing six hits and three earned run in 2.2 innings. The Hens topped the Indians in that game, 11-6.
Verlander has been on the disabled list with the Tigers since March 29, nursing a triceps injury. He is one of the most accomplished pitchers in Detroit history, winning the Rookie of the Year in 2006 and being selected for six All-Star appearances in his ten years at the Major League level. Verlander won the Cy Young Award in 2011, when he compiled an amazing 24-5 record with a 2.40 ERA.
The Mud Hens face the Columbus Clippers this Saturday at 7 p.m. Call 419-725-4367 for tickets or order online.
