Bulls and Knights Square Off in Rubber Match Tonight

Diamond takes the hill for Durham against Syracuse

The Durham Bulls (30-24) square off against the Charlotte Knights (30-22) in the rubber match of a three-game set Thursday at the DBAP at 7:05 p.m. Tonight's game features $1 concessions presented by Bright Leaf Hot Dogs.

As the Bulls go for their fourth straight series win, LHP Scott Diamond (4-2, 3.54) takes the mound as he aims to stay unbeaten in his last three starts. The southpaw is coming off a strong outing on Saturday against the Syracuse Chiefs, when allowed just one unearned run over 5 1/3 frames.

Going for Charlotte tonight is RHP Shawn Haviland (1-3, 6.00), who's allowed seven earned runs over his last 5 1/3 innings, spanning three outings. The right-hander has pitched against Durham twice this season, going 0-1 with a 2.79 ERA in those two starts (9.2 IP, 4 R, 3 ER).

Offensively for Durham, 3B Richie Shaffer has six hits in his last four games, while LF Eugenio Velez has hit safely in both games this series, while scoring a run and driving in a run.
