Club Deportivo Guadalajara - often simply known as Guadalajara and popularly known as Chivas, is a Mexican professional football club based in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Guadalajara plays in Liga MX with 11 First Division titles, 7 Campeón de Campeones, 4 Copa Oros de Occidente, 2 Copa México, 1 InterLiga and 1 Copa Challenger. Guadalajara is one of the ten founding members of the Mexican First Division and, along with longstanding rivals Club América, they have never been relegated to the second-tier division. Guadalajara was the runner-up of the 2010 Copa Libertadores.
Guadalajara is the only football club in Mexico to exclusively field Mexican players. The team has constantly emphasized home-grown (cantera) players and has been the launching pad of many internationally successful players, including Javier Hernández, Carlos Vela, Omar Bravo and Carlos Salcido, among others. The team's three colors (red, white, and blue) symbolize "Fraternity, Union, and Sports". The team mascot, as well as their nickname, is the goat or chiva. Chivas is one of Mexico's most successful and popular teams, and holds the Mexican league record for the second longest winning streak at the beginning of a season, with 8 consecutive wins.
Club de Fútbol Pachuca is a Mexican professional football team based in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. They compete in the Mexican Premier Division League. Founded by British miners in 1901, it is one of the oldest still existing football clubs in the Americas. After decades of mediocre or poor performances between the 1st and 2nd division, Pachuca was promoted once again to the Primera División in 1998. Since then it has been one of the most successful clubs in Mexico, winning five national championships, four CONCACAF Champions' Cups, the 2007 SuperLiga, defeating Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy and one Copa Sudamericana in 2006. Pachuca was the first CONCACAF team to win a CONMEBOL tournament.
Club Pachuca's roster includes their iconic goalkeeper, Óscar Pérez Rojas who's nicknamed "El Conejo" Spanish for "The Rabbit". He has been capped 54 times for the Mexico national team since 1997. He played four games at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup; and was selected for the 1998 FIFA World Cup but never played.
Club Pachuca is also a founding member of the Mexican Primera División. Pachuca is still one of the most successful clubs in Mexican Primera División. 2001 was also a celebration year for the team. It became the first Mexican professional football team to reach 100 years of existence.
Tickets available at Dell Diamond box office and online at www.roundrockexpress.com starting on June 13 at 10:00 AM. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the game starts at 7:30 pm.
