Soccer...at a Baseball Stadium?

Although Dell Diamond has never hosted a soccer match, this won't be the first fore into "futbol" for Ryan Sanders Baseball and Entertainment. The holding company that oversees the Round Rock Express hosted MLS exhibition games at their former venue in Corpus Christi, Whataburger Field. Ryan Sanders was the owner of the Corpus Christi Hooks Baseball Club until October 2013, however previous to the sale of the club they hosted the Houston Dynamo on two different occasions. 

"We've always looked at opportunities to utilize our stadiums and venues to their fullest," said Ryan Sanders Baseball CEO Reese Ryan. "Although our ballparks were not specifically built for soccer, they were designed for fan friendly entertainment, and that has helped us to host many events including concerts, professional softball, boxing, 5Ks and much more."

The field orientation at Dell Diamond will run North-South, with one goal just to the right of the first base dugout, and the other just in front of the left field fence. Additional field seats will be added on the east side of the pitch. 

"This layout gives value to the most amount of seats in the stadium," said event promoter Fred Godinez of Latin Entertainment. "Dell Diamond is a beautiful facility and we think will be a great venue for Chivas' first ever trip to Central Texas."
