OF Ryan Rua to Rehab With Round Rock Express
RENO, Nev. - Texas Rangers OF Ryan Rua will begin a minor league rehab assignment with the Triple-A Round Rock Express Thursday in Reno.
Rua, 25, began the season with the Rangers, playing in five games before injuring his right ankle on April 10, 2015. The Opening Day left fielder went 4-17 (.235) in the five contests, recording one double. He played with the Express last season after receiving a promotion from Double-A Frisco on June 26. The Ohio native batted .313 (67-214) with eight home runs, 36 RBIs, 13 doubles, two triples and 21 walks in 58 games with Round Rock. He was drafted in the 17th round of the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Lake Erie College by the Rangers.
The Express takes on the Reno Aces tonight for game three of four at Aces Ballpark. RHP Jerad Eickhoff (4-3, 5.48) takes the hill for the E-Train against Reno RHP Edgar Garcia (NR). First pitch is set for 9:05 p.m. CDT.
