Mets prospect McNeil among FSL All-Stars

If leading the league in hitting weren't enough, Jeff McNeill reeled off an 11-game hitting streak to assure his place in at the All-Star Game this month,

The St. Lucie third baseman was voted a starter for the South Division All-Stars on Monday and will represent the hometown Mets when the best of the Florida State League meet on June 20 at Tradition Field for the 54th FSL All-Star Game.

McNeil, batting .344 this season, is one of two St. Lucie players on the roster, joining Mets No. 20 prospect Akeel Morris, who was added to the pitching staff. McNeil, the Mets' 12th-round pick in the 2013 Draft, also has a homer, 14 RBIs, seven steals and a .398 on-base percentage in 38 games this season after hitting .332 as a South Atlantic League All-Star last summer with Class A Savannah.

Joining McNeil in the South Division lineup is shortstop Willy Adames, the Rays' No. 3 prospect, and outfielder Austin Meadows, the Pirates' No. 4 prospect who is batting .291 with 19 RBIs in 49 games. Yefri Perez, one of two Jupiter outfielders on the team, leads the FSL with 22 stolen bases.

Brewers No. 4 prospect Clint Coulter highlights the North Division lineup -- Milwaukee's No. 1 pick in the 2012 Draft is tied Daytona's Phillip Ervin and Brevard County's Victor Roache for the FSL lead with nine homers. All three will see time in the outfield in St. Lucie along with Lakeland's Ben Verlander, who has three homers and 18 RBIs this year.
