Cheer on the best 12u players in the world at this year’s Major/70’ Cal Ripken World Series at the Ripken Academy in Aberdeen, MD.
This weeklong, totally free event begins on August 13th with Opening Ceremonies and concludes on August 22nd, when a champion is crowned in front of a packed Cal Sr.’s Yard and MLB Network’s national audience.
Opening Ceremonies – Friday, August 13
Watch as the world’s most talented 12-year-old ballplayers test their abilities and showcase their skills in the Turn Two, Bean Bob, and Got Wheels competitions on the beautiful replica parks at Ripken Academy.
The State Farm Home Run Derby will take place at Cal Sr.’s Yard – where each team’s best slugger takes aim at the playground in left and the warehouse in right as they launch as many homeruns as possible.
Then, join the Aberdeen IronBirds in welcoming this year’s CRWS teams to Ripken Stadium in a special ceremony before the IronBirds take on the State College Spikes that night. Cal Ripken, Jr. will offer his special message to all of this year’s young ballplayers.
Cal and his mother, Vi, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and it’s all capped off with fireworks following the IronBirds’ game at Ripken Stadium.
Pool Play – August 14-18 on the Signature Fields at Ripken Academy
Teams compete in a pool-play tournament across two U.S. divisions and one international division.
Playoffs – Friday, August 20 on Cal Sr.’s Yard
The top two teams from each U.S. division and the top four international teams advance to the playoff round on August 20th.
Semi-Finals – Saturday, August 21 (Broadcast LIVE on MLB Network)
Leading up to the final day of the tournament, we’ll crown a U.S. Champion and an International Champion – the two teams that will face-off on Sunday to decide which team is the best in the world!
Both semi-final games will be played on Cal Sr.’s Yard and broadcast live on MLB Network with Cal and Bill commentating from the booth. The International Championship game begins at 12pm, followed by the U.S. Championship game at 3pm.
World Championship – Sunday, August 22 (Broadcast LIVE on MLB Network)
Cal and Bill join the MLB Network broadcast team again as a thrilling week of youth baseball action concludes when the World Champion is crowned. A packed house at Cal Sr.’s Yard will cheer on the U.S. and International finalists as they compete to decide who is the best 12u team in the world for the Cal Ripken Major/70’ division of the Babe Ruth League.
