The Indianapolis Indians topped the Rochester Red Wings 6-3 Monday night at Frontier Field.

The series continues Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m., another Fan 4-Pack Night with four tickets, hot dogs, drinks and a yearbook for $36 ($40 day of game). Complete promotion details below...

Left hander Jason Wheeler took the mound in the start for the Red Wings. Wheeler got off to a rough start, surrendering a single to Keon Broxton, which led to an RBI single to Brent Morel in the first inning.

The troubles continued into the second inning for the lefty, as the Indians loaded the bases with one out, which led to a two run single from Elias Diaz, putting the Indians up 3-0.

The Wings struggled on offense early as they were able to get men on base, but were unable to hit them home. Reynaldo Rodriguez tallied a single in each of his first two plate appearances, but was unable to advance beyond first base. Rodriguez accounted for two of the seven Wings left on base through three innings.

Indianapolis starter Clayton Richard was solid for the Indians, allowing just three hits through five innings. Richard didn't allow a runner to advance beyond second base until the fifth.

Wheeler allowed a double to Mel Rojas, Jr. in the fourth inning, which led to Rojas scoring on an RBI single from Pedro Florimon. The Indian led 4-0 at the end of the fourth inning.

The Indians loaded the bases in the fifth inning after Jeff Decker reached base on a rare error by the Wings, another single by Brent Morel, and an intentional walk to Tony Sanchez. The Wings defense was able to get Wheeler out of the jam, turning a double play initiated by James Beresford, and ending the inning. Wheeler (1-4) exited the game after five innings pitched. He gave up four earned runs on eight hits, while striking out two and walking two. Wheeler threw 100 pitches, 59 for strikes.

Richard (3-1) left after seven innings pitched. He allowed five hits, one unearned run, struck out one and walked to. Richard had 59 strikes on 95 pitches.

Logan Darnell took over in relief of Wheeler, and retired the side in the sixth inning, striking out two.

Darnell struggled in the seventh inning for the Wings, as he allowed a leadoff double to Keon Broxton, followed by a single to Jeff Decker. Following a balk called on Darnell which resulted in Broxton scoring from third and Decker advancing to second, Wings manager Mike Quade made his way onto the field to argue the call, which led him being ejected from the game. The Indians scored again on an RBI from Steve Lombardozzi, which put them up 6-0.

The Wings were finally able to get on the board in the seventh inning. Following a one out single by Jose Martinez, Eric Fryer reached base on an error by Richard, which allowed Martinez to advance to third base. Martinez scored on a sacrifice fly by Wilkin Ramirez.

Mark Hamburger and Ryan O'Rourke combined to throw two scoreless innings in the eighth and the ninth, keeping the game within reach for the Wings late.

In the bottom of the ninth Oswald Arcia got into scoring position with a one out double. Arcia scored on a two out Eric Fryer double, pulling the Wings to within four. Fryer also scored on a two out double hit by Wilkin Ramirez, and the Wings continued the late rally, down 6-3. Argenis Diaz tried to keep the Wings going, but grounded out to end the game.

NOTES: WWE Hall of Famer Bret "Hitman" Hart signed autographs for hundreds of fans, and threw out the first pitch. Hart visited the Red Wings clubhouse before the game, and was greeted with an ovation by the ballclub.
