Nationals Garrett Mock to Rehab with Suns

August 3, 2010
The Washington Nationals have announced that right-handed pitcher Garrett Mock, who was transferred to the 60-day disabled list with a cervical spine injury on June 21st, will make a rehabilitation start with the Hagerstown Suns this Wednesday night against the Lexington Legends. First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM.

Mock made one start with the Nationals this season at Citi Field, facing off with the New York Mets. He tossed 3.1 innings and surrendered two earned runs on four hits, while walking five and striking out three. Mock did not factor into that decision, and was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 15th.

Mock's best major league season was his rookie campaign in 2008 when he struck out 46 batters in 41.0 innings pitched, held opposing batters to a .239 batting average, and secured his first career victory.

Garrett Mock's appearance is scheduled for Wednesday evening, but is subject to change without advanced notice.

Mock is the third big league pitcher to rehab with the Suns during the 2010 season, as southpaw slinger Scott Olsen and former number one overall prospect Jordan Zimmermann each logged innings in Hagerstown, Maryland on their way back to the Nationals.

The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Ticket packages and sponsorships are available by calling the Suns at 301-791-6266. Visit the Suns on the web at www.hagerstownsuns.com.
