Nuts Erase Three-Run Deficit in 5-4 Win

June 10, 2015

Modesto, CA. - The Modesto Nuts struck for two runs in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 walk-off win against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.

With the Nuts (28-30) down by a run in the ninth, Correlle Prime reached on an error to start the frame. Ashley Graeter walked and Dillon Thomas replaced him as a pinch runner. Wilson Soriano tied the game off Dan Tillman (L, 0-3) with a RBI single that sent Thomas to third. Raimel Tapia whacked a deep sac fly to center that left no doubt about its ability to score Thomas. It is the first win for the Nuts against the Quakes this season in five meetings.

Devin Burke (W, 1-0) worked three innings out of the Nuts' bullpen and allowed just one run to the Quakes (34-24) on a RBI groundout.

Zach Jemiola started for the Nuts and gave up three runs on two homers in the first inning. The righty settled in from there and allowed just one hit in his final five innings of work while striking out a total of eight hitters with two walks.

Righty Brock Stewart worked five innings in his start for the Quakes and struck out nine while allowing two runs and one walk.

Ryan McMahon drove in two runs for the Nuts. Cesar Galvez also added a sac fly.
