Lindor stays hot amid callup speculation

Cleveland's top prospect gets three hits in Columbus' extra-inning win
June 11, 2015

Francisco Lindor is still in Triple-A, and if you think that's frustrating for Indians fans, imagine being an International League pitcher.

MLB.com's No. 3 overall prospect continued his recent hot streak with a three-hit performance \Wednesday, helping Columbus pick up a 3-2 victory over Louisville in 11 innings.

The 21-year-old has multiple hits in five of his past six games, racking up two hits in four consecutive games from June 5-8. Cleveland's top prospect sports a hitting streak of seven games, and he's reached base safely in 16 straight.

The Clippers won the extra-inning contest in anticlimactic fashion, as Lonnie Chisenhall was hit by a bases-loaded pitch by Sam LeCure. That didn't stop Columbus from mobbing Chisenhall at first.

"I haven't had a walk-off in a while, especially being hit with a pitch like that," Chisenhall told the Columbus Dispatch. "It's fun being out there with the guys. There were smiles all around. Walk-off wins are always fun."

Chisenhall, who was demoted from the Majors this week, went 2-for-4 in his first game back with Columbus.

Lindor's role in the 11th-inning rally was a secondary contribution. After Indians' No. 6 prospect James Ramsey led off the frame with a double, the Puerto Rico native successfully bunted Ramsey to third.

The Clippers lead-off hitter began the bottom of the first with a double to right field, but was stranded there. After grounding out in the third and popping up a bunt in the fifth, he added a single to third in the seventh and a knock to left in the ninth.

Lindor is batting .279 with 11 doubles and a .749 OPS in 56 games with Columbus this year. Speculation ran rampant over the weekend that he would be called up for his Major League debut following Jose Ramirez's demotion, but Zach Walters was promoted to play shortstop in the Majors instead.

Cleveland's No. 5 prospect Tyler Naquin went 2-for-5 with a double, a walk and an RBI. The outfielder was playing in his second Triple-A game and is 5-for-11 so far as a Clipper.
