Six More Days of RiverDogs Promotions Before All-Star Break

Larry Doby Heritage Weekend, We <3 Dave Night and Father's Day highlight six-game homestand
June 11, 2015

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Following a seven-game road trip to Hickory and Asheville, the Charleston RiverDogs wrap up the first half of the 2015 season with a six-game homestand against the West Virginia Power and the Asheville Tourists. West Virginia is making their first and only visit to The Joe, while Asheville comes back for the second time this month.

Tuesday, June 16, 7:05 pm: Whether it is your first date or you have been together for decades, bring your special someone to the fourth Miller Lite Tuesday Date Night at The Joe, presented by NASH FM. This week's Date Night will be a movie night, and we will be playing movie trivia throughout the game. Listen to clips and sounds from some of the greatest movies of all time, and have a laugh as the RiverDogs' headshots are replaced with their favorite movie characters on the video board when they come to bat. On the main concourse, we will have our Miller Lite "Bro Zone" set up where bros can grab a beer, relax, play some cornhole and enjoy the game. One special couple will also be able to enjoy a sit-down dinner on this evening. For every Tuesday home game this season, any duo of fans will receive a special 2-for-$20 deal at the box office. The promotion includes two tickets to the game, two tacos, two fountain drinks and one nacho tray all for $20. Whether you have a significant other or just want to hang out with a friend, come to The Joe and enjoy Tuesday's spectacular promotion.

Wednesday, June 17, 7:05 pm: Every Wednesday home game at The Joe is a HealthSouth Senior Wednesday, presented by MeTV. Seniors who enter the park before 7 pm will receive a food voucher for a complimentary hot dog, 16-ounce fountain drink and bag of chips. On Wednesday, the RiverDogs will be helping seniors learn how to live a healthy and fit life. The Summer Baseball Camp presented by Kickin' Chicken starts Wednesday, so make sure to register your slugger at RileyParkEvents.com to reserve their spot. The camp is open for all kids ages 6-13. Have your child learn the fundamentals of the game from RiverDogs players and coaches. Wednesday is also Hump Day presented by Z93 Jamz.

Thursday, June 18, 7:05 pm: The final game of the series with the West Virginia Power is a Thirsty Thursday, the fifth of 10 Thirsty Thursdays during the season. Enjoy 'Happy Hour' with $1 beers and music in the Ashley View Pub presented by Budweiser. DJ Natty Heavy will be at The Joe spinning popular tunes throughout the game presented by 95SX. There will be a moment of silence before the game in memory and respect of the nine Charleston firefighters who lost their lives on June 18, 2007. As a tribute, the RiverDogs will be wearing Charleston Fire Department caps during the game. Thursday is also We <3>Dave Night. Come to The Joe and celebrate the man himself, General Manager Dave Echols. We will celebrate our favorite GM all night. Festivities include a game of "Are you smarter than Dave?", photo and autograph opportunities with the man himself and anything we can find to make him turn red. If you see him in the park on this night, make sure you give him a hug and tell him how much you love him. The Summer Baseball Camp presented by Kickin' Chicken continues today.

Friday, June 19, 7:05 pm: Friday is the sixth ISHPI Red Shirt Friday of the season and it is presented by WEZL with postgame fireworks over the scenic Ashley River presented by Home Telecom. Support the military by wearing red and when you come to the box office, you can and receive $1 off your ticket. Fans will have the option to donate that dollar to Canines for Veterans, who will once again bring "Titus the Bat Dog" to perform his batboy duties during the game. The RiverDogs will wear their special red jerseys as a show of support for our military. Friday is the final day of the Summer Baseball Camp presented by Kickin' Chicken.

Saturday, June 20, 6:05 pm: The RiverDogs pay homage to the Negro Leagues with Larry Doby Heritage Weekend. Saturday includes a Larry Doby Newark Eagles replica jersey giveaway presented by South Carolina State & WCSC Live 5. We will be celebrating the 1955 Cannon Street All-Star team who were refused the right to play because of racism. The RiverDogs will also be hosting a book release with "A Backpack Journalist." The group, made up of local school children, has written and published a book on Larry Doby, Mike Veeck and the Charleston RiverDogs. The scholars who took part in the project will be on hand to sell autographed copies of the book. Ever dream of rounding third base and heading for home at The Joe? Saturday night is your chance to make that dream come true as kids are able to run around the diamond every Saturday, with the Postgame Kids Run the Bases program presented by CPI Security Systems.

Sunday, June 21, 2:05 pm: Larry Doby Heritage Weekend continues on Father's Day with a special start time of 2:05 p.m. In honor of the Negro Leagues, both the RiverDogs and Tourists will wear throwback uniforms of the Homestead Grays and the Newark Eagles. Former Negro League player Clifford Layton will be on hand for a special pregame recognition and to meet fans on the concourse. Every Sunday at The Joe is a Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission Kids Club Sunday, presented by Y102.5. Parking is free, and kids 12-under eat free courtesy of Pepsi. They will receive a coupon for a hot dog, fountain drink and chips. All members of the RiverDogs Kids Club receive free admission to every Family Sunday Game. The RiverDogs Kids Club, known as the RiverPups, is free to join and open to all kids 12-and-under. Stick around after the game to receive free autographs on the field from all of your favorite RiverDogs players and coaches.

Both three-game series against West Virginia and Asheville will also be broadcast on "The Big Talker" 1250 WTMA, the radio home for RiverDogs baseball and televised on MiLB.tv.
