Alex Jackson joins AquaSox
EVERETT, Wash. - Alex Jackson, Seattle Mariners' top prospect, will open the 2015 Northwest League season with the Everett AquaSox, the organization announced Monday, June 15.
A 6-foot-2 outfielder, Jackson was named the top prospect in the Mariners' organization by Baseball America and MLB.com at the start of the 2015 season.
Jackson was drafted No. 6 overall by the Mariners in 2014 out of Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego. He was ranked as the No. 20 prospect in the minor leagues by Baseball America and No. 24 by MLB.com.
The former first-round pick joins the AquaSox after playing for the Arizona Rookie League Mariners last season and for the Class A Clinton Lumberjacks earlier this season. Jackson hit .280 with the Mariners, with 23 hits in 24 games and 16 RBIs. With Clinton, Jackson played in 28 games and hit .157 before heading back to extended spring training due to a shoulder issue.
