White Sox Add Three Players To Active Roster
Fields, 23, was named International League Rookie of the Year with Charlotte in 2006 after batting .305 (141-462) with 32 doubles, 19 home runs, 70 RBI, 85 runs scored and 28 stolen bases. He led the IL in runs scored and ranked among the leaders in slugging percentage (3rd, .515), average (4th), hits (4th) and extra-base hits (5th, 55). Fields was named to the IL All-Star Team and was a member of the All-Star Futures Team. He was a three-year letterwinner at quarterback for Oklahoma State and holds the school record with 55 career touchdown passes.
Owens, 25, batted .262 (115-439) with four home runs, 48 RBI, 75 runs scored and 40 stolen bases with the Knights this season. He ranked third in the International League in steals. Owens, who bats and throws left-handed, was recalled from Charlotte on August 26 and placed on the disabled list with a sprained right ankle. He was acquired by the White Sox from Washington on February 13, 2005 in exchange for outfielder Alex Escobar.
Tracey, 25, went 8-9 with a 4.30 ERA (62 ER/129.2 IP) and 102 strikeouts in 29 games (20 starts) with Charlotte this season. He has gone 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA (3 ER/6.0 IP) in four games over two previous stints with the White Sox this season, from June 6-15 and July 16-24.
With the moves, the White Sox active roster stands at 33 and the 40-man roster increases to 39.
