June 19, 2015

Oklahoma City - Hector Olivera went 4-for-5 and finished the night a double shy of the cycle in the Oklahoma City Dodgers' 6-3 win Friday against the Memphis Redbirds at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The league-leading Dodgers (45-22) won a sixth straight home game and improved to a season-best 23 games above .500 in front of a crowd of 9,885.

Oklahoma City built a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Olivera tripled on a fly ball to center field, then scored on a RBI single to right by Corey Seager to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead. A sac fly by Andy Wilkins later scored Seager for a 2-0 lead for Oklahoma City in the first inning.

Ty Kelly tripled, then scored on a groundout by Rafael Ortega to cut the Dodgers' lead in half in the second inning.

Memphis (36-33) drew two walks and Oklahoma City pitcher Brandon League, on MLB rehab assignment, hit Kelly with a pitch to load the bases with two outs in the third inning. Pitcher Dustin Richardson entered the game to replace League and Rafael Ortega drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game, 2-2.

The Redbirds led off the fifth inning with back-to-back doubles from Dan Johnson and Tommy Pham to take a 3-2 lead.

Olivera belted his first Triple-A home run into the Dodgers' bullpen in left-center field to tie the game, 3-3, in the fifth inning.

Scott Schebler doubled with one out, then scored on a RBI single by Austin Barnes for a 4-3 lead for Oklahoma City in the fifth inning.

In the seventh inning, Barnes hit a RBI double to deep center field to score Schebler, who was hit by a pitch, giving Oklahoma City a 5-3 lead in the seventh inning.

Darnell Sweeney added a RBI single to put the Dodgers in front, 6-3, in the bottom of the eighth.

Olivera collected a single in the third inning and came up to bat in the sixth and eighth innings looking for a double to complete the cycle. He flew out to center in the sixth, and was credited with a single in the eighth when his grounder hit Darnell Sweeney, who was running to second base.

The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in their series against the Redbirds and have now won 10 of their last 11 games.

They sit 23 games above .500 for the first time since they were 25 games above .500 Sept. 6, 1999.

Pedro Baez, Joel Peralta and League, all on MLB rehab assignments, each pitched early in Friday's game. Baez allowed one hit and struck out one in the first inning. Peralta allowed two hits, one run and recorded a strikeout in one inning. League allowed a run, two walks and had one strikeout in two-thirds of an inning.

Pitcher Deck McGuire (3-2) got the win for the Dodgers, holding the Redbirds to one run and four hits over 5.0 innings. He issued three walks and struck out two.

Chin-Hui Tsao picked up his fifth save of the season.

Thomas Lee (1-1) was hit with the loss for Memphis.
