Six-Run Seventh Routs Biscuits

JACKSON, TENN. (August 9, 2010) - The Diamond Jaxx (21-23) scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and routed the Montgomery Biscuits (21-23) at Pringles Park Monday, 9-3. The win is the second straight for the Diamond Jaxx and West Tenn has scored 17 runs in their last two wins. The Jaxx win on Monday night extends the lead over Huntsville in the wild card standings to 3 ½ games in the North. There were four solo homers in the game, two by the Diamond Jaxx and two by Montgomery.

Joe Dunigan drove in four more runs on Monday night, giving him now eight RBI's in the series against Montgomery. Dunigan was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI's. Matt Lawson, Carlos Triunfel, Scott Savastano and Leury Bonilla had two hits apiece on Monday. Savastano and Bonilla each had a solo homer. Nevin Ashley had two hits for the Biscuits and John Matuila had three hits. Matulia is now 9-for-13 in the first three games of the series.

Mauricio Robles dealt six innings for the Jaxx and picked up a no decision. Robles allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five. Luis Munoz (5-4) got the win in relief for the Jaxx. Munoz gave up one run on two hits in two innings of work. Ryan Reid (1-2) suffered the loss by giving up six runs on five hits in one inning of work.

Montgomery took advantage of a walk and hit batsman in the first inning and went up 1-0. Henry Wrigley reached on a fielder's choice that scored Rashad Eldridge from third.

Leury Bonilla tied the game in the bottom of the second inning on a homerun to center. The second homer of the season by Bonilla evened the score at 1-1.

The Jaxx took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Joe Dunigan that scored Carlos Peguero. The Jaxx went ahead 2-1.

Drew Anderson blasted a homer to lead off the top of the sixth frame. Anderson's homer pulled Montgomery back even at 2-2.

Scott Savastano hit the second Jaxx solo homer of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Savastano put the Jaxx again back on top 3-2 in the sixth frame.

For the second straight inning, the Biscuits got a leadoff homer, this time from John Matuilia. The game was once again tied, but this time at 3-3.

The Diamond Jaxx broke the game open by scoring six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Guillermo Quiroz belted a 2-RBI double to put the Jaxx up 5-3. Reliever, Ryan Reid walked in a run and then Joe Dunigan had a 3-RBI double to extend the Jaxx lead to 9-3.

The Jaxx and Biscuits continue their series on Tuesday at Pringles Park, with first pitch at 7:05. RHP Steven Hensley (7-9, 4.00) takes the mound for the Jaxx and RHP Alex Cobb (4-4, 2.68) pitches for the Biscuits.
