Lanphere's Performance Not Enough in Loss

WSU alum gets winning decision for Everett in his pro debut
June 25, 2015

Indians starter Luke Lanphere mirrored his Opening-Day performance, with five scoreless innings to maintain a squeaky clean 0.00 ERA, however late Indians miscues led to another crushing defeat as Spokane lost to Everett 3-0 on Wednesday night in front of 3,811 fans at Avista Stadium. It was Baseball Vacation Sweepstakes night presented by Azteca Mexican Restaurants and HOT 96.9

Lanphere struck out four and allowed one walk, which gives him nine and two, respectively, on the season. He has yet to allow an earned run in 10 innings despite having not earned a decision. Adam Choplick relieved him in the sixth to toss two frames of one-hit baseball.

Washington State alum Joe Pistorese earned the win for the AquaSox. Pistorese, making his debut, allowed two hits in 1.2 innings with one strikeout.

Everett struck first in the seventh inning with a sac fly to left with Spokane's Blake Bass on the mound. A passed ball on the ensuing at-bat advanced Rafael Fernandez to third base, then a Yeyson Yrizarri fielding error made the score 2-0. The AquaSox added an insurance run in the ninth.

The Indians threatened early in the fourth inning. Leon Byrd and Doug Votolato opened the inning with consecutive base on balls, then, with two outs, Dylan Moore earned a free pass. Ti'Quan Forbes struck out swinging to end the inning.

Spokane, last in the league with zero stolen bases, was aggressive on the base paths. Four different Indians were caught stealing second base.
