Spinners set attendance record

September 13, 2006
LOWELL, Mass. -- The Lowell Spinners set a team-attendance record with 192,397 fans this season and extended their consecutive standing-room only streak to 270 consecutive games.

The previous attendance record of 185,000 fans was set in 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005.

This season marked the Spinners first appearance at Fenway Park, where Lowell played in front of 33,394 fans splitting the attendance total (16,697) with the Pawtucket Red Sox. The 16,697 attendance total also set a single-game attendance record for the Spinners.

This is the seventh consecutive season the Spinners have sold every ticket possible, including standing-room tickets for every home game. (A standing-room capacity sellout is 5,030 fans at LeLacheur Park). Lowell is believed to be the only Minor League Team in history to sell every ticket possible for seven consecutive seasons.

The last time there was not a standing-room crowd of 5,000 fans at LeLacheur Park was last century. (August 2, 1999)

"Our 10th anniversary season has officially gone down in the record books and we thank the fans for that," commented Spinners General Manager Tim Bawmann. "We are very lucky to have the greatest fans in the world supporting the Lowell Spinners. The community around us has always been amazing and we are very thankful for all the support we receive."

Ticket prices for a Spinners game this year were $7.50 for Premium Box Seats, $6.50 for Box Seats, $4.50 for Reserved Seats, and $3.50 for Standing-Room tickets.
