Julie Newmar to headline Batman Night Aug. 28

Holy iconic TV star!

Om Friday night Aug. 28, it's our second annual Batman Night presented by Wesley Gardens Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Services, 96.5 WCMF, News10NBC and MeTV Rochester.

Fans with dated tickets for the originally scheduled Batman Night June 27 can exchange those tickets at the Red Wings Ticket Office for Aug. 28, or any other 2015 regular season home game, based on availability. Please call 423-WING (9464) if you have any questions about exchanging dated tickets for June 27.

 

This multi-media celebration will include:

POW! An autograph appearance by Julie Newmar , who played the original Catwoman in the
ABC series Batman

 

ZAP! An appearance by the Batmobile, an exact replica of the car from the TV series and film (weather permitting)

 

WHAMM! After the game and before the fireworks, an on-field interview with Julie Newmar
about her career and the "Batman" series - plus a reunion of the
Rogues Gallery of Villains, Batman, Robin and Batgirl!

 

BAM! The post-game fireworks show will feature music from and inspired by the
Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher Batman film series and the Christopher Nolan
Dark Knight film series

 

The Red Wings will wear special bat-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off during the game to benefit the Seneca Park Zoo - made possible by The Brown Group at Stifel and Iron Smoke Whiskey. Click here to see the bat-themed jerseys the team will wear on Aug. 28.

 

 

Julie Newmar was an established dancer, movie star, TV actress, and Tony-award winning Broadway performer when she was chosen to play Catwoman in the "Batman" TV series. Her first appearances were in the episodes "The Purr-fect Crime" and "Better Luck Next Time" airing March 16 and 17, 1966.

Her iconic performances opposite Adam West's Batman and Burt Ward's Robin are among the most talked about, best remembered, and most viewed in the pop culture and comic con pantheons.

Author of the 2011 book, "The Conscious Catwoman Explains Life on Earth"....subject of the Stephen Speilberg-produced film "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar"...and as popular as ever with the November 2014 release of the "Batman" TV series on DVD and blu-ray.....Julie Newmar's appearance in Rochester will make for a "purr-fect" promotion for Red Wings fans.

On Aug. 28, Julie Newmar will sign autographs from 6-6:45 p.m, be introduced on the field, and sign autographs again from 7:10-8 p.m. She will discuss her career and the Batman series during an on-field interview after the game, before the fireworks show.

 

 

AUTOGRAPH SESSION DETAILS: Fans will have two options if they would like to receive an autograph from Julie Newmar:

* purchase an official event color photo for $10 each, which includes a free autograph from Ms. Newmar (choice of three photos available)

* any other items will be signed for $40 each (cash only).

Time will not permit fans to ask to pose with our guest for photos or videos.

The gates will open at 6 p.m. for the autograph session, regardless of the weather. The autograph session will take place as scheduled, regardless of the weather and regardless of whether the game is played or not.

 

The Batmobile

 

The Batmobile fans will see on Aug. 28, shown above, is an exact replica of the famed TV series car. This Batmobile is owned by Red Wings fan, Batman fan, auto enthusiast and Supervisor of the Town of Greece Bill Reilich. Fans will be able to take photos of the Batmobile while it's on display in the concourse during the first autograph session.
