Cael Brockmeyer Promoted to Myrtle Beach
South Bend, IN -- Catcher Cael Brockmeyer Monday was promoted from the South Bend Cubs to the Advanced-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
The 23 year-old Brockmeyer had been on the South Bend Cubs roster since Opening Day.
The right-handed hitter batted .274 for the Cubs this season with a team high five home runs, 31 runs scored and 33 runs batted in. Brockmeyer on Opening Night belted a walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to send South Bend past Bowling Green 2-1.
The San Diego, California native was the Eastern Division's starting catcher in the 2015 Midwest League All-Star Game.
The 6'5 235 pound right-handed hitter was a sixteenth round pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 2013 draft.
Catcher Gioskar Amaya takes Brockemeyer's spot on the roster after spending nine days on the disabled list.
