Bees Knock 16 Hits in Win Over Isotopes

June 29, 2015
SALT LAKE CITY (June 29) - The Salt Lake Bees combined for 16 hits on their way to a 7-2 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes Monday night in front of 9,133 fans at Smith's Ballpark. With the victory, Salt Lake clinched its fifth series victory of the season. The Bees took an early 1-0 lead in the first and from there, the home team ran away with the game as all nine Salt Lake batters collected at least a hit, while the pitching staff whiffed the Isotopes nine times.

Jo-Jo Reyes (1-0) picked up his first win in a Bees uniform after tossing five and two-third innings and allowing two runs and one earned run while striking out six. Frank Herrmann, Kurt Spomer and Vinnie Pestano all contributed to a two-hit scoreless relief effort. In his first game back from a 12-game stint with the Angels, Kyle Kubitza led the offense, going three-for-four, while Alex Yarbrough assisted with two hits, two runs and an RBI.

"Reyes came out and was throwing really, really well," said Salt Lake manager Dave Anderson. "He had the one inning where he got a little bit out of whack, but then he threw great. I'm really happy to see that."

Tomorrow, the Bees head to Sacramento for a four-game set, before returning to Smith's Ballpark on Friday, July 4 to face the El Paso Chihuahuas. Fireworks will follow the Independence Day game. For more information or for tickets, visit www.slbees.com.
